Redevelopment announcement

Dear Students,

Wehave recently finished planning the redevelopment of our school. It is our sincere hope that our students can be educated in a better environment with excellent facilities. To this end, we have decided to:

•turn Canteen B into an IT Centre to offer students and teachers modern learningand teaching facilities, and then connect it with the Library;

•redevelop part of the existing Sports Centre to create a multi-use game area—a dedicated and secure space for students to play and have fun;

•plant more trees inside the school to reduce traffic noise and give students a greener study environment.

Redevelopment will start this summer. We will try our best to make sure that most of the work is done outside of term so as to minimize the effect on school life. To go to the Library, go down theroad and walk past Teaching Buildings B and C. Then turn left and you will comeacross the Library. After you come out of the Library, you should go southwardsdown the road and soon you will come to the Science Labs on your left. Youcan’t miss them.

Task 2

Dear Principal,

I am writing to suggest someimprovements to our school.

First, Canteen A is a bit smallat the moment, and Canteen B is very old. We should combine the Theatre and CanteenA into one building. That way, there will be enough space for all the studentsto have lunch in Canteen A. Canteen B can then be turned into an activitycentre where the students can do different after-class activities.

Second, during rainy days, thestudents often get their textbooks wet when they go between buildings. I thinkwe should add corridors between the buildings.

Third, the playground is too small and not looking very nice right now. Since many of the students like playing basketball, I think we should change it into an outdoor basketballcourt.

Finally, the school is looking very grey at the moment. I think that we should build a greenhouse in the areabetween Teaching Building A and Offices to create a greener environment for thestudents.
