One morning a young man was wandering along the beach when he saw a boy far away picking up something and very gently throwing it into the sea.
一个年轻人正沿着海滩散步的时候，远远看见一个小男孩正拾起些什么，然后轻轻地把它扔到海里。
He quickly paced towards him, surprised to find that the boy was picking up the starfishes which were washed ashore by the tide and throwing them back into the sea. “Excuse me, why are you throwing the starfishes back into the sea?”He asked.
他快速地朝小男孩走去。他惊奇地发现，他在捡被潮水冲上岸来的海星，然后把它们扔回大海。 “打扰一下，你为什么要把海星扔回大海呢？”他问。
The boy replied，“Sir, you see the sun will soon rise and the tide will flow away.” “But don't you think it is a waste of your time as there are miles and miles of beach and numerous starfishes still lying along it?
男孩回答道：“先生，你看太阳就要升起来了，海水也将退去。” “但是你不觉得这是在浪费时间吗？这里有绵延数英里的海滩，无数的海星躺那里。
Surely you can’t keep this act all day long.You can’t possibly make a difference！” The child ignored the young man's remark（言辞）. Then he picked another starfish and threw it into the sea, and said，“It makes a difference for that one.Would you like to join me?It would make a difference.”
你肯定不能这样做一整天吧。你不可能让这起作用的。” 男孩没有理会他。然后他把另一只海星扔到海里，说：“对这只海星来说就起了作用。” “你想加入我这里来吗？这很有意义。”
There is something very special in each and every one of us. We have all been given the ability to make a difference to shape the future.
我们每一个人身上都有某种特别的东西。我们都被赋予了这种能力来发挥作用，塑造未来。
我们大家都必须找到我们自己的海星。如果我们能明智又很好地扔出我们的海星，这个世界将会变得更加 美好。（We must each find our own starfish.And if we throw our starfish wisely and well, the world will be better.）
