单词caprice来源于拉丁语capra,表示“羊”,因为羊安静低头吃草的时候,会突然跳起来或者蹦向一边,然后又若无其事地继续低头吃草。山羊的这一习性给人感觉反复无常,让人摸不着头脑,于是人们用caprice这个词来形容这种“行动或者思想上突如其来、反复无常的变化”。

意大利语中capriccio是音乐术语,表示“狂想曲”,英语中也将这一层含义借用了过来,用caprice来表示“随想曲”。
