君子于役
君子于役，不知其期，曷至哉？
鸡栖于埘，日之夕矣，羊牛下来。
君子于役，如之何勿思！
君子于役，不日不月，曷其有佸？
鸡栖于桀，日之夕矣，羊牛下括。
君子于役，苟无饥渴！
本诗出自《诗经·王风》，语言质朴，融情于景，抒写妇人对远方服役丈夫的牵挂和思念之情。
This poem, from Airs of King·the Book of Songs, about a woman’s concern and longing for her husband on active service far away from home. It is told in plain language and with the technique of expressing emotion through scenery.

The sun’s sunk in the west;
Cattle and sheep come down.

In lovesickness I drown.

The sun’s sunk in the west;
Cattle and sheep come back.

The pining does me rack.
