Strolling around the Xuanyuan Lake Park, you will find a lot of lush greenery. "A few years ago, this was a deserted village, with dilapidated dirt houses, dirt roads, and a narrow river", a local citizen said. "In just a few years, this poor village has been turned into a beautiful park."

Surrounding the urban areas are villages experiencing vigorous cultural development. For example, Tanghu Village, located in Guanyinsi Town, Xinzheng, houses prosperous cultures, including the Peiligang Culture in the northwest, the Yangshao Culture in the northeast, the Longshan Culture in the south-central part, Xia and Shang Dynasties Culture in the south, Zhou Dynasty Culture, and Ming and Qing Dynasties Culture. It has been a hub of cultures spanning about 9,000 years.
市区外的村落，文化助力发展的情景亦是生机勃勃。坐落在新郑市观音寺镇的唐户村，由西北部的裴李岗文化、东北部的仰韶文化、中南部的龙山文化、南部的夏商文化以及两周至明清文化组成，形成了自公元前70世纪到现代长达9000年的跨时代聚落群遗址。
Tanghu Village used to be a regular village that developed slowly. In contrast, it now enjoys more visitors and neatly arranged houses. It has been recognized as a key national ancient village, and has become a product of the "Beautiful Village" project in Zhengzhou. From dirt roads to highways, from a dilapidated gathering site to a neat settlement area, Tanghu Village continues to improve.

It has built up Qianjiaji, Dahan Kiln and other cultural scenic spots, carried out themed activities like Bai Juyi Poetry Culture Season, and developed learning-tourism activities like the Chariot and Horse Cultural Exploration Tour and Cultural Tour on Bai Juyi and Ouyang Xiu. It also developed ecological parks displaying with cultural relics, ushering in new life styles of living and working in Zhengzhou.
