讲座信息

第一场讲座:

题目:Context in Metaphor Production

主讲人:Zoltán Kövecses教授

时间:2018年10月18日下午3:00 – 5:00

地点:望江三教335教室

内容简介:

While it is certainly true in many cases that conceptual metaphors are based on our bodily experience, in the talk Prof. Kövecses willoffer a reinterpretation of the body in metaphor. He will propose a new view in which many metaphors emerge from four different types of context – one of which is the body itself. Thus, in the lecture Prof. Kövecses willargue for the multiple grounding of metaphorical cognition.

第二场讲座:

题目:Some Recent Issues in Cognitive Metaphor Theory

主讲人:Zoltán Kövecses教授

时间:2018年10月19日下午3:00 – 5:00

地点:望江基教A318教室

内容简介:

In the workshop, five recent issueswill be discussedconcerning conceptual metaphor theory:

(1) Are only abstractions understood figuratively? Or, do we understand the concrete figuratively as well?

(2) Does metaphor emerge directly or indirectly from experience?

(3) Is metaphor a relationship between two domains, or two schemas, or two frames, or two mental spaces?

(4) Is metaphor primarily conceptual or contextual?

(5) Is metaphor an offline or online mental phenomenon?

Prof. Kövecses willintroduce and discuss these issues briefly one by one (about 30 minutes) and then will take questions and comments from workshop participants.
