下面我们继续本周《新概念英语2》第71课的重点句型或语法的分享。先来读一读课文：
一、课文原文
Lesson 71 A famous clock
When you visit London, one of the first things you will see is Big Ben, the famous clock which can be heard all over the world on the B.B.C. If the Houses of Parliament had hot been burned down in 1834, the great clock would never have been erected. Big Ben takes its name from Sir Benjamin Hall who was responsible for the making of the clock when the new Houses of Parliament were being built. It is not only of immense size, but is extremely accurate as well. Officials from Greenwich Observatory have the clock checked twice a day. On the B.B.C. you can hear the clock when it is actually striking because microphones are connected to the clock tower. Big Ben has rarely gone wrong. Once, however, it failed to give the correct time. A painter who had been working on the tower hung a pot of paint on one of the hands and slowed it down!

二、重点句型或语法
本课主要是复习第60-69课的重点句型和语法：
（一）第60课
主要学习时间和条件状语从句中的“主将从现”的用法，即当整个句子基于现在时间来对将来的事情进行描述时，其时间或条件状语从句的谓语动词要采用一般现在时，而其主句都采用一般将来时。如：
If it rains tomorrow, we shall stay at home.
如果明天下雨，我们就待在家里。
As soon as the rain stops, we shall go out.
雨一停我们就要出去。
（二）第61课
本课主要对比将来完成时、将来进行时和将来完成进行时的用法。如：
I will be writing letters all day tomorrow.
明天我一天都要写信。
Soon the astronauts will have repaired the telscope.
宇航员很快就会把望远镜修好。
By Friday midday, they will have been working on it for seven days.
到星期五中午，他们就在这个工程上干了七天了。
（三）第62课
本课主要对比过去完成时和过去完成进行时的用法。如：
He had already finished work before I arrived.
我到达之前他已经完成工作了。
He had been working in a factory for years before he got this job.
在得到这个工作前，他已经在一个工厂干了多年了。
（四）第63课
本课主要学习间接引语的用法，侧重当直接引语为祈使句时间接引语采用to do或not to do的用法，以及当主句动词为表建议、命令、要求等时从句动词要采用“should do”的用法，且should可以省略。如：
'Open the door for me please,' she said to me.
She told/asked me to open the door for her.
'Don't make so much noise,' she said to the children.
She told/asked the children not to make so much noise.
再比如：
'Stay to lunch,' he insisted.
He insisted that I should stay to lunch.
'Come with me,' he suggested.
He suggested that I should go with him.
（五）第64课
本课学习的是虚拟语气的用法，侧重学习针对过去时间的虚拟。试比较：
If you went to the exhibition, you would enjoy it. (针对将来时间)
If I were in your position, I would act differently. (针对现在时间)
If you had not hurried, you would have missed the train. (针对过去时间)
（六）第65课
本课学习的是情态动词must、have to、should和ought to的用法。如：
I must leave now.
She had to go shopping yesterday.
I should / ought to do some work tonight, but I think I shall go to the cinema instead.
I'm sorry I'm late. I should / ought to have taken a taxi.
（五）第66课
本课学习的是动词have作为使役动词的用法，即“have ... do / doing /done”，如：
He will have Jack do the job tomorrow.
She is going to have her son doing his homework this afternoon.
I had my car washed yesterday.
（六）第67课
本课主要是对比can、be able to和manage to的用法。如：
I couldn't understand him.
I was able to leave Europe before the war began.
He managed to pass the exam last week.
（五）第68课
本课学习的是动名词的用法，侧重学习的是动名词的逻辑主语的用法，以及一些固定用法。如：
Would you mind my/me opening the door?
Her coming here surprised us all.
It's no use crying over spilt milk.
It's not worth worrying about the problem.
（六）第69课
本课学习的是被动语态的用法，但侧重的是把从句改为分词短语的用法。如：
After he was arrested, the man confessed that he had stolen the money.
After being arrested, the man confessed that he had stolen the money.
After he had been instructed to drive out of town, he began to acquire confidence.
After having been instructed to drive out of town, he began to acquire confidence.
