I think that definitely both men and women can become police officers. In this day and age, the 21st century, why are we still having a discussion about whether both men and women can do this job. In the past we used to talk about policemen.
But now we use the phrase "police officers" purely because this is a role that both genders can play. Some people may say that men are stronger or more suited to this high intensity work.
However, this is only partly true and the work of police officers is very wide ranging. Not everybody will be working with at an airport or on the street carrying a gun. Some people will be working in police stations, cracking crimes and doing a variety of different jobs.
So I think there are roles in the police service for both men and women.
