Field多指空旷的地方。比如原野， 旷野,
还有油田 - oil field, 战场 - battlefield，等等。
作为动词， field有回答、答复的意思。
比如，白宫发言人常常要回答一些很棘手的问题，
"The White House spokesman often has to field some tough questions."
角逐民主党总统候选人的八位民主党人前往内华达州，在工会发起的集会上回答问题，
"Eight Democratic candidates gathered in Nevada to field questions at a union-sponsored forum."
