今天的片段来自美剧《左邻右舍》(The Neighborhood)。
当科学家的，可能往往要成为那个带来坏消息的人，是不是很讨厌呢？
说到世界末日，英语里对应的就是the end of the world，但其实还有一些比较特别的词也是用来形容“末日”的。
比如：Doomsday指“末日”，有宗教意味，还有“末日审判”的意思。
又比如：Armageddon，这个词有更浓厚的宗教意味，同样有“末日”和“末日审判”的意思。
还有一个更常见的：Apocalypse，“末世”，往往带有大灾变的隐含意思。
既然说到了“末日审判”，这也有专门的讲法，就是直译的Judgement Day。著名科幻片《终结者》(Terminator)里，天网向全世界发导弹那天就被称为Judgement Day，“审判日”。
Marty这个科学家是不是很无趣呢？明明看星星这么有趣的事情，却要扯到世界末日。
那么就稍微来讲几个相关的词汇。

1、burn up

4、alarming 使人惊恐的；令人忧虑的；让人担心的

这些举动表明人们愈加担心最近发生的事件。
