一、课文原文
Lesson 69 But not murder!
I was being tested for a driving licence for the third time. I had been asked to drive in heavy traffic and had done so successfully. After having been instructed to drive out of town, I began to acquire confidence. Sure that I had passed, I was almost beginning to enjoy my test. The examiner must have been pleased with my performance, for he smiled and said, 'Just one more thing, Mr. Eames. Let us suppose that a child suddenly crosses the road in front of you. As soon as I tap on the window, I want the car to be stopped immediately.' I continued driving and after some time, the examiner tapped loudly. Though the sound could be heard clearly, it took me a long time to react. I suddenly pressed the brake pedal hard and we were both thrown forward. The examiner looked at me sadly. 'Mr. Eames,' he said, in a mournful voice,' you have just killed that child!''

二、重点句型或语法
本课主要学习的是被动语态的用法。其基本构成方式为：
受动者 be done by 施动者

【注意】
在第10课里，主要学习的是不同时态中的被动语态的用法。如：
This bridge was built in 1942.
My computer is being repaired now.
在第21课里，主要学习的是被动语态与情态动词的连用。如：
ThIs letter must be written again.
Your watch can be repaired soon.
在第34课里，主要学习的是be done to do的用法。如：
I was asked to make a speech at his wedding last night.
He was told to return the book on time.
本课在前面4课的基础上，新出现了与从句改为分词短语的结合用法，即当被动语态用于从句中，如何把该从句改为分词短语结构。如：
After he was arrested, the man confessed that he had stolen the money.
After he had been instructed to drive out of town, he began to acquire confidence.
如果要把上面两句话中由after引导的从句（含有被动语态结构）改为分词短语结构的话，首先要去掉相同的主语he，然后分别把was arrested中的was改为being，把had been instructed中的had改为having，由此得出：
After being arrested, the man confessed that he had stolen the money.
After having been instructed to drive out of town, he began to acquire confidence.
