The Palace Museum
Hi! I am Laura. I am an American girl. Now I’m traveling in China. Today, I will go to the Palace Museum. There I will see many beautiful buildings, sculptures and collections. Would you like to go with me?
The Palace Museum is one of the most comprehensive museums in China.
It was established on the basis of the Forbidden City, a palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Each of the four sides has one gate, namely Wu men, Shenwu men, Donghua men and Xihua men.
The complex consists of 70 halls and palaces with more than 9,000 rooms. They spread out on either side of the central axis.
Yellow is the dominant color here. Roofs and bricks on the ground are built in yellow.
There are many small animal sculptures placed on the tops of the buildings.
Many gates are flanked by guardian lions.
The buildings and designs here are the peak of Chinese traditional architecture.
