Packing for Kindergarten收拾幼儿园书包
Mom: Sweetie, you will be going to kindergarten tomorrow.
妈妈：宝贝，明天你就要上幼儿园了。
我国的幼儿园通常被翻译为kindergarten，美国叫daycare、preschool，英国叫nursery，深入了解见文章结尾。
Mom is going to pack the things you need to bring in your little backpack.
妈妈把你需要带的东西装进你的小书包。
Do you want to pack with me?
你想和我一起收拾吗？
Child: Yes, I do.
宝宝：想。
Mom: Okay, let's take a look at the list your teacher sent over.
妈妈：好呀，咱们看看老师发过来的清单。
You need to bring an extra set of clothes, some underwear, a pair of socks, and a pair of indoor shoes.
你得带一套备用衣服、一条小内裤、一双袜子和一双室内鞋。
If you accidentally stain or wet your clothes, there is something to change into.
如果你不小心弄脏或弄湿自己的衣服，还能有一套可以换的。
Child: Thank you, Mom, but I won't get my clothes dirty or wet.
宝宝：谢谢妈妈，但是我不会弄脏或弄湿衣服的。
Mom: Mmm, just in case.
妈妈：嗯，以防万一嘛。
For example, when you eat, you may get food on your clothes.
比如说你吃饭的时候，可能会把饭蹭到衣服上。
When you go to the bathroom, you may pee on your pants.
你去厕所的时候，可能会尿到裤子上。
Child: I see, but I'll try not to.宝宝：明白，但是我会尽量注意的。
Mom: Also, although you are already potty-trained, there is still a chance you wet your pants. 妈妈：另外，虽然你已经完成如厕训练了，你还是有可能尿裤子。
So every time you need to pee, you should immediately tell your teacher.
所以你每次有尿意的时候，要马上告诉老师。
Don't be embarrassed, and don't wait until you can't hold it.
不要不好意思，也不要等到憋不住的时候再往厕所跑。

老师可能会提醒你们喝水，
but you should also remember to drink more water yourself.
但是你自己也要记着多喝水。
Child: Okay, Mom, I will use my own water bottle.
宝宝：好的，妈妈，我会用自己的水瓶。
I won't use others' bottles or give mine to others.
我不用别人的水瓶，也不把自己的给别人用。
Mom: Correct! That way it's more hygienic.
妈妈：对啦！这样才卫生。
Child: Mom, do we need to pack my little pillow and covers?
宝宝：妈妈，用不用装上我的小枕头和被子？
You said I have to take an afternoon nap in kindergarten.
你说在幼儿园还得睡午觉啊。
Mom: Right, the kindergarten gave a set of bedding to every child.
妈妈：是的，幼儿园给每个小朋友都发了一套被褥呢。
I will embroider your name on every piece.
我会把你的名字绣在每一件上面。
（30多年前，小雅上幼儿园时妈妈给绣的，已传给下一代，有点泛黄，满满的80年代感）
Child: Mom, you are so good at doing handicrafts.
宝宝：妈妈，你真擅长做手工。
Handicrafts和crafts都是手工的意思，前者更强调一定的技巧、水平。
Oh, almost forgot.
哦，差点忘了。
Can I take my crayons, scissors, and glue sticks?
我可以带上我的蜡笔、剪刀和胶棒吗？
I want to draw and do crafts with the teachers and other children!
我想跟老师和小朋友们一起画画、做手工呢！
Mom: There are more colorful crayons and craft tools in your class, way more than yours!
妈妈：教室里有更多五颜六色的蜡笔和手工用品呢，比你的多多了！
You'll love it.
你一定会喜欢的。
Child: Wow! Really?
宝宝：哇！真的啊？
Mom: Yes! When you come back, will you tell Mom about your day at kindergarten?
妈妈：是呀！等你回来了，给妈妈好好讲讲你在幼儿园里的事情好吗？
Child: Sure.宝宝：当然。
Mom: We're almost done packing.
妈妈：咱们马上就收拾好了。
I also put in a pack of tissues and a bag of wipes for you.
我还给你放了一包面巾纸和一包湿纸巾。
If you need any, you can get it from your bag.
你需要的话，可以自己去包里取。
When you arrive at kindergarten tomorrow, the teacher will show you the cubby with your name on it.
明天到了幼儿园，老师会指给你写着你名字的小格子。
Just put your bag there.
把书包放在那里就可以了。
Child: Okay, Mom, I can't wait to go to kindergarten!
宝宝：好的，妈妈，我已经等不及上幼儿园了！
