The cause is why something happened (发生某事的原因）
The effect is what happened because of the Cause（由于原因而发生的事情，结果)
举个简单的例子：oh no, I hit my head, I have a headache.
‘I hit my head’是cause，‘I have a headache’是effect，我为什么头疼呢？因为我撞到了头。
cause和effect之间通常可以用because来连接，比如I have a headache because I hit my head.
实例分析：
在前面有篇文章里我们解析了牛津阅读树里的故事in the garden, 以该故事里的两个情节为例，我们来分析辨别一下cause和effect。
Floppy chased the cat away. The children climbed out of the bottle."Good old Floppy!"said Biff.
在这里，effect是the cat ran away,The children climbed out of the bottle.
而原因，为什么猫跑了呢，因为Floppy chased the cat away，故Floppy chased the cat 是cause。
They walked over the desert. Everyone felt very hot. "I want a drink," said Kipper.
在这里，They walked over the desert是cause，Everyone felt very hot是effect。他们因为在沙漠里走，所以感觉很热。Everyone felt very hot because they walked over the desert.
