The origin of International Children's Day goes back to 1925, when representatives from different countries met in Geneva, Switzerland to convene the first "World Conference for the Wellbeing of Children".国际儿童节起源于1925年，当时来自不同国家的代表齐聚瑞士日内瓦首次举行“儿童幸福国际大会”。
After the conference, some governments around the world designated a day as Children's Day to highlight children's issues. There was no specific date recommended, so countries used whatever date was most relevant to their culture.大会过后，世界部分国家政府指定一个日期为“儿童节”，以关注儿童问题。由于没有一个专门设定的节日，所以很多国家根据自己的文化，选取一个最相关的日期为儿童节。
The date of 1 June used by many ex-Soviet countries as 'The International Day for Protection of Children' was established on 1 June 1950 following the Women's International Democratic Federation's congress in Moscow that took place in 1949.1949年，国际民主妇女联合会代表大会在莫斯科举行，会上确定将许多前苏联国家沿用的6月1日“国际保护儿童日”定为“国际儿童节”，自1950年起实施。
