“固执己见”用英语表达是 dig in one's heels，关于 heels 的短语不少，比如：cool one's heels 和 drag one's heels 等等，dig one's heels in 寓意：
1、to be firm and resolute about something
对某事坚定而坚决
2、to take a stand by resisting
坚持抵抗
3、to be unyielding
不屈
4、to be obstinate about something
对某事固执
5、to insist to a level where the other side has to give up
坚持到对方不得不放弃的程度
6、usually referred as stubbornness and hard-headedness about something
通常指对某事的固执
例如：
1、They dug in their heels and would not lower the price.
他们说什么也不肯降价。
2、I suggested it would be quicker to fly, but he dug his heels in and insisted on travelling by a bus.
我建议乘飞机会快些，但他坚持要乘公共汽车旅行。
解析：
a、insist on doing sth 表示坚持做某事。
b、解析：instead of 后面的事物或是动作是要被替代的，而 instead 中的动作是要去做的。
3、Although it would have been easier to fly to the destination, my uncle dug heels in going by train because it would be cheaper.
虽然乘飞机去目的地要容易些，但我叔叔还是坚持坐火车去，因为这样更便宜。
解析：although 和 though 同义，在一般情况下，可以互换使用。只是 though 较普遍，常用于非正式的口语或书面语中，而although 则较为正式。另外 although 语气比 though 重，常用以强调让步概念。
4、The politician dug heels in making the whole agenda about women's safety this time. Hopefully they will be able to come up with practical solutions to the problem.
