My parents warned us not to throw a party while they're gone,你一定会说中文:家长警告我们他们不在家时不要在家搞晚会。
We're throwing a party for Bill's retirement next week时,你还是只会说中文:我们下个星期为庆祝Bill退休搞个晚会。
1. Okay.I got you.When you throw a party(for someone),you can also say/you mean:You have a party(for someone). You hold a party (for someone).You arrange a party(for someone).You host a party.
So,My parents warned us not to throw a party while they're gone means Not hold a party, not to have a party, not to arrange a party, not to host a party.
So, We're throwing a party for Bill's retirement next week means To hold a party,to have a party,to arrange a party,to host a party.
2.a party is a special social gathering in celebration of someone or something,lije a dinner,like a dancing ball,like a picnic or BBQ,like a camping.
1. Bill threw a party for his sister before she went away to college.
2.Things seem sort of dull. Let's throw a party.
3. They're throwing a party to introduce their nephew to the neighbors.
