‘His eyes twinkled and when he smiled, his teeth looked bigger and whiter than ever.’
(他笑起来眼睛眨巴着,牙齿看上去更大更白了。)
grin:露齿而笑(如give a broad smile)
‘He grinned wickedly in response to her skeptical expression.’
(听了她的怀疑,他呲牙一笑。)
laugh:大笑(开心、或遇到可笑的事情)
‘All the kids around the playground laughed hysterically at this pathetic joke.’
(听了他蹩脚的笑话,围在操场边的孩子们笑的前仰后合。)
guffaw:
哄笑,大笑(无序的状态下,或者粗放的狂笑)
‘The man guffawed loudly, slapping his hands on his obese legs.’
(那人狂笑,手拍着肥胖的大腿。)
Roar:哈哈大笑(一群人哄堂大笑,类似于burst into laughter)
‘The crowd roared with laughter and music was started once again as the couple danced across the floor.’
(当两人舞过,人群哄笑,音乐再次响起。)
Crack up:突然笑出声(憋不住的时候)
She tries to keep a straight face, but she keeps cracking up.
(她努力想板住脸,可是憋不住笑出声来。)
smirk:
傻笑,得意地笑(自大,骄傲)
‘As the verdicts were read by the jury foreman some of the defendants smiled, smirked and even giggled.’
(当陪审团主席宣读裁决时,有些律师面带微笑、接着得意地笑、甚至咯咯地笑出声来。)
chuckle:抿嘴笑,暗自笑(憋住笑,常用在书面)
‘The King's official looked at his clerk, and chuckled quietly, shaking his head.’
(国王的御师看着他的书记员,摇摇头心里暗笑。)
giggle:咯咯地笑,傻笑(紧张、尴尬、被逗乐,类似gurgle)
What are you giggling about? Have I said something funny?
(你傻笑什么?我说的话很好笑吗?)
snort:
哼哼一笑(表示轻蔑)
“Yeah, you're a writer, and I'm the King of Spain!” he snorted.
(“哦,你是作家,我还是西班牙国王呢!”他哼笑道。)
titter:窃笑,傻笑,嗤嗤地笑(紧张、尴尬时)
‘The rest of the audience tittered as the main character made baby-noises and hopped across stage.’
(当主角嘴里发着婴儿的声音在舞台上跳来跳去,其余的观众哧哧地笑出来。)
snigger =snicker:窃笑(不怀好意、耻笑)
‘Some looked to be older than fifteen, and when they passed, they snickered at the younger girl.’
(有些看上去已经超过十五岁了,当他们走过时,他们不怀好意地冲着那个小女孩笑。)
simper:
假笑,傻笑(献媚的笑)
‘Girls would keep on giggling and simpering whenever they felt they had caught his attention for the tiniest glance.’
(当女孩子们感到引起他的注意,哪怕是不经意一瞥,她们就会咯咯地傻笑。)
