The First Period (Section A, 1a–2c)

Teaching aims (教学目标)

1. 学会使用can的基本用法。

2. 能够使用can进行提问及回答。

3. 能够使用can谈论某人的能力。

4. 能够根据自己的能力选择适合自己的俱乐部。

Language points (语言点)

1. 词汇:1)名词n. guitar, swim, dance, chess, club

2) 动词v. sing, swim, dance, draw, speak, join

3) 词组 play chess, speak English

2. 句型:Can you …? Yes, I can. /No, I can’t.

I want to join the ... club.

Difficulties (教学难点)

1. 区别play chess 和play the guitar 中the 的用法。

2. 情态动词can的基本用法,即无人称和数的变化。

Teaching steps (教学步骤)

1. Warm-up and revision(课堂热身和复习)

(1)Daily greetings to the S

(2 ) Play a guessing game. Show Ss a picture and have them guess what it is.

T: Let’s play a guessing game. If you know what this is, put your hands up as quickly as you can.

T: Yes, it’s a guitar. Can you play the guitar?

2. Presentation (呈现新知识)

(1) Present the new words: sing, swim, dance, draw, play chess, speak English,

play the guitar.

Show Ss

the pictures and help Ss to understand the new words. Help them to say what the person is doing in the picture. Ask Ss to read the new words, and make sure that everyone can understand the meanings and read them correctly. Then use the new words to ask Ss questions.

T: Can you dance/swim/sing/draw/play chess/speak English/play the guitar?

S: Yes, I can./No I can’t.

3. Drill (练习)

Show the pictures as quickly as possible. Let Ss say the new words. Then use the new words to make small conversations.

T: Let’s play a game. Please say the new words as quickly as you can. Then make a conversation using the words, like this:

A: Can you swim?

B: Yes, I can. /No, I can’t.

教学设计说明此环节为机械操练,使不同层次学生初步掌握目标语言。机械操练是英语初始阶段教学必不可缺的部分,学生要先从模仿到初步掌握,最后才能熟练应用。机械操练时应注意着重提问成绩较差的学生,由于机械操练比较简单,因此是激发后进生兴趣,培养后进生自信的一个很好的途径。

4. Work on 1a (完成1a)

(1) Match the activities with the people in the picture.

(2) Talk about the picture with Ss using the target language.

T: Can “a” speak English? S: Yes, she can.

5. Work on 1b (完成1b)

(1) Listen and number the conversations.

(2) Recite the conversations.

6. Work on 2a & 2b (完成2a和2b)

(2)T: Now listen to the recording carefully and circle the clubs you hear.

(3)T: Can you get the answers? Please check your answers.

(4) T: Please look at 2b. I’ll play the recording once again. Please complete the sentences.

(5)Check the answers.
