从见面打招呼可以观察到双方交往的深浅程度
打招呼,你好,你好吗?最常用的当然是 Hello. How are you?
另外,下面的这些表达,也是比较常用的。
What's new?
How are you getting on?
How's it going (= is your life enjoyable, successful, etc. at the moment) ?
How're you doing?
How's everything?
How's everything going?
How have you been?
How have things been?
How have you been keeping?
像 How are you? 这样打招呼的问候英语,多数情况下,仅仅是礼貌性、礼节性的问候,问的人并不真想询问对方实际情况 how 怎么样。但是,语言是活的,不像数理化公式那样教条,不可以变化。少数情况下也有例外。比如:

然而,当商务人士真的停下来与他们十分熟识的人交谈,如同事,那么 How are you? 就是实实在在的询问了。
像 how are you? 这样的打招呼用语,最适用于双方只有点头之交往,或比较浅的交往,比较熟悉的人们在问候时,用的比较多的还是上面列出的那些替代的问候表达。而且,不少时候,还会省掉 are, 非正式场合,说英语的人们实际就是这样问候交流的。比如:
