张 嵩长峡十里气如云，
惊涛化作烟尘。
峭崖绝壁水留痕，
光色粼粼。
浪涌千山入画，
画中喧响鸣琴。
一弯鸿景向天闻，
谁不消魂？

From Bronze Gorge to Goldsand Bay
—To the Tune of Painted Hall Spring

The three miles of gorge’s like clouds tumbling;
All turn to mist with waves rumbling.
The precipices have stains by the flow,
Where all ripples glow.
Mountains and waves surge as a painting,
Wherein the lutes and strings are gaining.
Who has not been amazed by this grand view?
I would ask the sky blue.
