“否定词 比较级”即形容词的比较级用在否定结构中，可以表示“最……不过”、“不比……更”的意思，有时相当于形容词的最高级的含义。
He is not richer than before.他并不比以前富有。
It can't be better !
再好不过了。（最好的了）
Tim is not shorter than any other student in his class.
Tim是班级里最高的学生。
No writer is more adventurous than Mark Twain.

I couldn't agree with you any more.
我再同意你不过了。（我最同意你的意见了。）
There is no uglier face like that.
没有比那更丑陋的相貌了。（意译：那张脸最难看。）
nothing is more difficult than that.
没有什么比那更难了。（那最难了）
“否定词 比较级”的意思往往不能只按字面来理解，而是要根据不同的语境灵活翻译。例如，
“I have never drunk better beer than this.”
意为：这是我喝过最好的啤酒。
He has never tasted such good food.他从来没尝过这么美味的食品。
在使用“否定词 比较级”这一结构时，必须注意以下问题：
1.多数情况下为：can't/couldn't 比较级；例如，
The weather couldn't be worse.
再好不过了。（最好的了）
It can't be better !
再好不过了。（最好的了）
2、除了not之外，never、no、nothing等否定词也可以用于这一用法中。例如，“This could give her no greater pleasure.”意为：这使她再高兴不过了。
There is nothing cheaper.这东西再便宜不过了。
Few are better qualified for the job than he is.
没有什么人比他做这工作更合适。
3. 当该结构中的比较级为less时，其意义为“一点也不”。比如：
"He couldn't care less."。他一点也不关心。（他最漠不关心。）
"He couldn't care more.他最关心不过了。（他非常非常介意。）
这种结构一般可表示：非常,极其的意思
I can't agree more.
我真是同意到不能再同意的地步了（我非常同意）。
当然还有另外就负比较级的,例如
I couldn't care less.
我才懒得在意呢。
就是如果是正比较级,那么就是持支持、加强态度,负比较级就是持否定、消极减弱态度
4. no more…than或not…any more than
1)“和……一样地不……”，意味着两者都否定，但往往着重说明前面的一个分句，其作用相当于“neither…nor”。例如：
Mary is no more diligent than Tom. = Neither Mary nor Tom is diligent.玛丽和汤姆俩人都不勤奋。
2)“不……正如……不……一样”，常用来加重说话者的语气。例如：
We can no more leave the Party than fish can leave water.我们不能离开党，正如鱼儿离不开水一样。
比较：no less…than “（至少）和……一样”
He is no less active than he used to be. “他和以前一样活跃。”
not more… than“不如……；不及于……”，语气常着重于后面的一个分句，常可与“not so/as … as”互换使用。
This story is not more interesting than that one. = This story is not so/as interesting as that one.“这个故事不如那个故事有趣。”
比较：严格说来not less…than 的意思是“至少不比…差”，意味着或许还要强一些，但现在基本和no less than混用。
His English is not less than yours. “他的英语至少不比你的英语差。”
