看完了这篇文章，可能你会想到：October前缀是八，但为什么意思是十月，December以Dec为前缀，但意思却是十二月呢？
其实以前October真的是八月，December也真的只是十月！以前一年只有十个月份，是罗马统治者因为某些原因将一月到十月直接变为了三月到十二月，又强塞了一月和二月放到年初，变成了十二个月，这些说来就话长了，如果有人有兴趣以后专开一贴讲一讲！

一与词根sol-前缀sol-是一个前缀也是一个词根，作为词根，sol的意思是“太阳”，我们又可能这样理解前缀so-,前缀 sol- 为象形前缀，可分解为：o 太阳、s 太阳的强光、l 太阳的弱光，即它代表太阳，太阳又是独一无二的，所以它有“单,一”的含义。前缀不仅可以当作前缀而且，还可以当作词根，还可以当作后缀，像这样的前缀既可以作前缀，也可以当后缀还可当作词根的很少，当后缀时含义为“溶胶，液胶”。
前缀sol-有异形同义词根：primi-,mono-,proto-,haplo- 意思“一”，前缀primi-来源于拉丁语 primus，后三者来源于希腊语。这四个前缀在表示“一”意思时，还有细微差别：这二个前缀primi-，proto- 的意思是“第一(=first)”、前缀mono- 意思是“一 (=one)”、haplo- 意思是“单一 (=single)”。

二与词根bi-(bin-) =two,twice,doubly汉：来源于拉丁语，意为"two",前缀bin(binoculars)和bis(biscuit)都是它的变形。此外，还有一些表示“数字”的前缀。
在常用词bicycle 中有个表示数目的前缀bi-，它源自拉丁语bis,愿意为twice。bi-最早出现在从法语或拉丁引进的外来语中，是个只与拉丁词根结合的原生词缀。16世纪以后，bi-成为英语中的派生词缀，能与名词、形容词及副词相缀合，构成新词（其中包括生物学与化学的术语），表示two,double,having two,in two ways等含义。bi-在个别单词中读[bI]（如bigamy），一般读[bai]。bin-是bi-的异体，只出现在以元音字母开头的词根中。有一个意思是“生命”的词根bi跟这个前缀bi-外形完全一样，注意区别。
