I’m not sure why everyone in this thread is acting like he’s only talking about Trump. He might be speaking out more now, but he’s been doing this for years:
He organized a team photo of the Heat wearing hoodies to support Trayvon.
He made public comments saying Donald Sterling shouldn’t be allowed to own a team before Silver’s ban.
He wore an “I can’t breathe” shirt before a game.
All before Trump was president. And I’m sure he faced backlash for some or all of these decisions.

I have so much respect for LeBron as a man. He is brilliant, has a strong moral core, and a perspective that is badly needed in the national discourse. As incredible a career he is having in the NBA, his accomplishments and impact off the court will dwarf his basketball accomplishments when it is all said and done. On the flip side, I started paying attention and liking Lebron James a lot more when he became more than just a basketball player.
On the court, I was never his biggest fan (we'll see how much that changes this year now that he's in purple and gold) but as a human being using his platform to speak out on issues I admire him.
So fret not about your popularity Lebron (not that he is) because your speaking out has won you fans as well.
