那“去睡觉”英语怎么说？
很多人脱口而出“go to sleep”，
但播哥要告诉你，这是错的！
“去睡觉”不是go to sleep
很多人认为，go是去，sleep是睡觉，
go to sleep自然就是“去睡觉”。
这又犯了中文思维直译的错误。
其实，go to sleep指“睡着、入睡”，
强调的是“已经睡着”的状态。
【例句】
You'll find that your baby usually goes to sleep after a feed.
你会发现你的宝宝通常吃饱后就睡着了。
另外，go to sleep还可以表示：
因为坐、躺太久，手脚发麻。

回到睡觉这件事上来。
我们说“去睡觉”，强调的是动作，
也就是“上床睡觉，但还没有睡着”。
所以，“去睡觉”应该说：go to bed
更地道的表达，可以用下面的俚语：
hit the hay 或 hit the sack

I went to bed at ten, but I didn't go to sleep until midnight.
十点我就上床了，可直到午夜才睡着。
“睡得晚”不是sleep late
晚上睡得比较晚，
也不能直译为sleep late。
sleep late可以这样理解：
sleep强调“睡着的状态”，
而late强调“超出预期时间的”，
睡着的状态超出预期的时间，
也就是“睡过头，起得晚”的意思。

I sleep late on Sundays.
我礼拜天睡到很晚才起床。

“睡过头”还可以说：oversleep；
