英语里也有很多像我们的母语汉语里一样的成语、俗语或者说习语，叫idiom.
An idiom is a phrase or expression that typically presents a figurative, non-literal meaning attached to the phrase.
习语是一个短语或表达方式，通常表示附加到该短语的比喻性、非字面意义。
作为一个英专生，很惭愧，对很多习语都不是很熟悉。在跟孩子一起读书的时候也会遇到，前几天三年级的女儿做完形填空也遇到了。所以就计划跟孩子一起学习一下。
现在开始用文章的方式也记录一下，如果有不对的地方，期待大家一起讨论，共同进步。
1. A white lie 善意的谎言， 是一种小的、无害的、无关紧要的谎言,尤指出于礼貌或出于好意而说的谎话。
例句：
He told a (little) white lie as his excuse for missing the party.
他撒了一个（小）善意的谎言作为他错过聚会的借口。
-Does this white sweater make me look fat?
-No. (No is a white lie).
2. Kill time:
to occupy oneself with some activity to make time pass quickly 忙于一些活动以使时间过得很快; 消磨时光
例句
We killed time watching the sailboats on the river.
我们观看河上的帆船来消磨时间。
While I was waiting, I killed time counting the cars on the freight trains.
在等待的时候，我数货运列车上的车厢消磨时间
3. Be all ears Eager to hear something, listening attentively 渴望听到什么，专心聆听，洗耳恭听

She had expected him to be all ears when she told him about her wedding plans. 当她告诉他她的婚礼计划时，她原以为他会全神贯注地听
The students were all ears to his speech. 同学们都非常认真地听他的演讲。
Everyone was all ears as soon as I mentioned a cash prize. 当我提到现金奖励的时候，每个人都听得非常认真。
