在英语中，road, street, path, way都可以用来表示道路，但是你明白它们之间的区分吗？快来一起学习一下吧！
一、road指供车辆和行人通过的道路，通常是广阔平坦的硬化道路，和中文里的“公路”较为对应。和street相比，road的两侧一般没有房屋建筑。例如：
She came bombing along the road towards him.
她沿着公路急忙朝他跑来。
The trucks climbed the twisting mountain road.
卡车沿着盘山公路向上爬去。
二、street指在城市或者乡镇上两旁有房屋建筑的“街道”。所以“在街上”我们可以表示为on/in the street。例如：
Street lighting must be dimmed out during the war time.
战时街道照明必须实行半灯光管制。
四、path指的是，未经开凿，通过践踏而自然形成的“小路”，这种路只能够供人行走。鲁迅先生所说的“世界上本来没有路，走的人多了也就有了路。”这里的路就是path。例如：
A path winds through the forest.
一条小路蜿蜒穿过森林。
A winding path rambled across the village into the distance.
一条弯弯曲曲的小路穿过村庄伸向远方。
五、avenue意思是宽阔的林荫大道，街道，还表示一个抽象的概念：途径 ,an avenue to success通往成功的途径。
Walk along Second Avenue and you can see it on the right.
沿着第二大街走，然后你能看到它在右边。
We saw many of these modernist gems as we strolled around Harnet Avenue.
我们在哈内大街散步，看到许多像这样的现代派建筑瑰宝。
