英语教学either与neither（不头疼英语语法系列）

Either 和 Neither的用法以及它们的联系。

先看它们的发音:

Either [ 'iðə,'aiðə]

Neither [ 'niðə,'naiðə]

How to use EITHER? --"either 怎么用？"Either"的意思是"（两者中）任何一个，(无所谓哪个）都可以。"

· A: Would you like coffee or tea?

你想喝茶还是咖啡？

· B: Either one.（or）Either.

（随便）都可以。

·常用词组"either---or---"、"either of---"

· You can have either vanilla or chocolate ice cream.

你可以选香草冰激凌或者巧克力冰激凌，你想要哪一个？

· Either of Jack and Peter can speak English.

杰克和比特（任何一个）都会说英语。

（注：这句强调的是两个人中任何一个）。

· Both of Jack and Peter can speak English.

杰克和比特都会说英语。

（注：这句话强调的是两个人作为整体）

下面说说"Either"否定句的结构：not--- either---和---not--- either of---

I don't speak either French or English.

我既不会说法语也不会说英语。

I don't speak either of those languages.

那两种语言我都不会说。

neither"怎么用？"Neither"意思是："（两者任何一个）都不---"

· A: Would you like coffee or tea?

你想喝咖啡还是茶？

· B: Nither one.（或者）Neither.

常用词组Neither---nor---"和 "Neither of---"

其实分别就是"either---or---"和"either of-- "的否定式

I neither speak French nor English.

我既不会说法语也不会说英语。

I speak neither of those languages.

我那两种语言都不会说。

"Not Either=Neither" 就是"also not"的意思当。用"否定的意思"回答一个"否定陈述句"，你可以用"Not Either"或者"Neither"来表达"也不"，但两个词使用结构不同。

· A: I can't swim.

我不会游泳。

· B: I can't either. （结构：not either）

=Neither can I.

（结构：neither 情态动词/助动词）

=Me neither. (不正式的用法）

我也不会。

"Not Either/Neither" ，我们再多举一个例子。

· A: Kate didn't come to class today.

凯特今天没有来上课。

· B: Bob didn't either.

=Neither did Bob.

=Bob neither.
