The Mid-Autumn Festival is also a time for family reunion. People from all across China will manage to find their way home that very day no matter where they are. If someone is delayed from returning, their family will leave them mooncakes, symbolizing a happy family reunion.
中秋节，正值秋高气爽之时，月亮特别明、特别圆，人们一直都有赏月的习俗。此时讲究阖家团圆，在外的人都会尽早往家赶。万一有事不能回家，家人也会给他留下一块月饼，以示全家美满幸福。

When appreciating the moon, seasonal fruits such as apples, pomegranates and Chinese dates are the best match. The mooncake, in particular, is a must-have for the holiday. As time goes on, many new flavors are continuously invented. In Zhengzhou, supermarkets, dessert shops and some restaurants provide traditional mooncakes with fillings of five kernels, sweet bean paste, jujube paste, lotus seed paste, egg yolk, pork floss, ham, as well as innovative flavors such as spicy soup, Luoshifen (river snail rice noodles), crayfish, and preserved vegetables.
赏月的同时，通常要配上苹果、石榴、枣等时令水果，当然还有主角月饼。随着时代发展，月饼的口味是极尽巧思。在郑州的超市、甜品店，以及一些餐饮店，除了五仁、豆沙、枣泥、莲蓉等传统口味月饼，不乏蛋黄、肉松、火腿等口味，更有胡辣汤、螺蛳粉、小龙虾、梅干菜等新出口味。
Mooncakes are diverse and stylish. Although varying in taste and form, they are an embodiment of the Chinese people's infinite love for life and their longing for a better future.
