词缀来源
在常用词bicycle中有个表示数目的前缀bi-，它源自拉丁语bis，原义为twice。bi-最早出现在从古法语或拉丁语引进的外语中，是个只与拉丁词根结合的原生词缀。16世纪以后，bi-成为英语中的派生词缀，能与名词、形容词及副词相缀合构成新词（其中包括生物学与化学的术语），表示two，double，having two，in two ways等含义。bi-在个别单词中读[bɪ]（如bigamy），一般读 [baɪ] 。bin-是bi-的异体，只出现在以元音字母开头的词根中。
