原版英语微阅读：Chileans marked anniversary
我们的“英语阅读”能检验一个人英语“运用自如”的程度。实际上，英语阅读就是为了训练我们英语“运用自如”的能力，这也是你的现阶段英语阅读的唯一目的。
英语的“运用自如”，不是指我们用中文“学”，又用中文“积累”了大量的所谓“实用地道”英语口语后，又能够“运用自如”地把这些完全依赖中文理解“才能记才能懂”的英语用来跟人“对话”。更何况，不管你用中文学来的英语如何“实用地道”，多数人根本就没有这个“用”英语的机会和条件。因此，也就意味着你根本无法知道自己的英语是否能“运用自如”。
英语的“运用自如”的另外一层意思，也是最能随时体现的意思，是指你在“英语阅读”时，能“运用自如”地把“已知”英语“用起来”，把英语“读成”英语来“读懂”和“理解”以及“记忆”。
一、你把下面的英语“读成”什么？能英语“运用自如”地阅读下面的英语吗？
提示：凡是只能“读成”中文的，都不算是真正意义上的“英语阅读”。

读到英语tens of thousands of时，不能“引发”你“运用自如”地使用英语Thousands and thousands of, or thousands upon thousands of，而是只能“读成”中文“成千上万的”，你的“英语阅读”是“失败”，“无效”的，没有意义。

when Chileans gathered in the central square of Santiago,they assembled,they rallied in Santiago in its central plaza
为什么会“想到”用rally这个英语词？
看到下文的peaceful rallies没有？它们就是一个意思，换词表达而已：这就是英语“阅读能力”。
3. To mark the first anniversary of mass protests
When we mark the anniversary of something,we celebrate it,so we can also say They celebrated the first anniversary
4. the mass protests left over 30 dead and thousands injured,
When something,such as( like) an accident,a fire,a war, left over 30 dead and thousands injured,it killed more than 30 people and injured thousands of people.
Or Over=more than 30 people died(were killed) and thousands were hurt (injured, wounded).
如果我们的“英语阅读”根本无法让我们“读出”这些学过的英语，“自如”地运用这些学过的英语，而只能“翻译”成中文(才能懂)，这样的英语阅读意义何在呢？那么，还不如直接用翻译机器翻译后我们“读”它的中文算了。

能运用自如地把peaceful rally“读成”上面英语的，恐怕不多，同时也暴露了我们的“英语阅读”应该训练的能力。
