Riding a Moped
骑电动车
Mom: I bought a moped.
妈妈：我买了一辆电动车。
Do you want to take a look?
你想看看吗？
Child: Wow, it looks cool.
宝宝：哇，它看起来很酷。
Mom: Yes. You are going to preschool next week.
妈妈：是的。你下星期要上幼儿园了。
Mommy is planning to ride that moped to drop you off and pick you up.
妈妈准备骑这辆电动车接送你。
That way, we can skip the traffic jams that happen when driving a car,
这样我们既能避免开车的堵车问题，
and it is less strenuous than riding a bike.
又比骑自行车省劲儿。
Mommy only needs to twist the handlebar and the moped can go by itself.
妈妈只要拧一拧车把，车子就可以自己走了。
Child: Awesome!
宝宝：太棒了！
❉ Getting Ready to Ride 准备出发
Mom: First, we have to put on our helmets.
妈妈：首先，我们要戴上头盔。
Child: Why do we have to wear a helmet?
宝宝：我们为什么要戴头盔呢？
Mom: Because our head is very fragile.
妈妈：因为我们的头部很脆弱。
Once hit, it could be fatal.
一旦受到撞击，就会是致命的。
The speed of mopeds is very fast,
电动车速度太快了，
and we must protect our heads just in case.
我们必须保护好头部，以防万一。
Child: Understood!
宝宝：明白啦！
Mom: Get on the moped!
妈妈：上车吧！
Can you get on it by yourself?
你能自己上来吗？
Child: I don't think so.
宝宝：好像不行。
Mom: Let Mommy help you up.
妈妈：妈妈抱你上来吧。
Move your feet in a bit - there's no space left for me to put my feet.
脚往里挪挪，我没地方放脚了。
Grab the handle of the child's seat and off we go!
抓紧儿童座椅的把手，出发啦！
如果是大一点的孩子，坐在后座上，可以说：Hold on to Mommy's waist.扶住妈妈的腰。
❉ Riding the Moped 骑行中
Mom: How do you feel?
妈妈：感觉怎么样？
Are you scared?
害怕吗？
Mommy can ride a bit slower.
妈妈可以骑慢点。
Child: I'm not scared at all - I'm very brave.
宝宝：一点也不害怕，我很勇敢。
I can feel the cool wind blowing by!
我觉得风吹得很凉快呢！
Mom: It seems I'm riding too fast.
妈妈：看来我骑得太快了。
There's a speed bump coming up, you'll feel it.
前面有个减速带，会癫一下。
Hold on tight!
扶好了！
Child: Okay, Mom.
宝宝：好的，妈妈。
❉ A car appears suddenly, so Mom brakes hard and quickly
突然出来一辆车，妈妈急刹车
Mom: Ah, that was close.
妈妈：啊呀，好险。
Are you okay?
你没事吧？
Child: I'm fine, but you need to go a little slower!
宝宝：没事，但是你得慢点骑呀！
Mom: Yes, Mommy has to practice more!
妈妈：是啊，妈妈还得多练习！
I should try to ride alongside the sidewalk.
我应该尽量靠边骑。
When we make a turn or cross an intersection, I should slow down and make sure there are no cars passing by.
我们拐弯和过路口的时候，我应该减速，确定没有车再过。
We shouldn't ride on the main road and should also give way to pedestrians.
我们不能在主路上骑，还要礼让行人。
Child: Mom's the best!
宝宝：妈妈是最棒的！
Mom: By the way, is it hot under your helmet?
妈妈：对了，戴着头盔热不热啊？
Just hang on a little longer and we will be there shortly.
再坚持一下就到了。
Child: A little, but I can make it!
宝宝：有一点，但是我可以的！
Mom: Good girl!
妈妈：好孩子！
❉ Getting Off the Moped 下车
Child: Here we are!
宝宝：到啦！
Mom: Don't move until Mommy has stopped the moped completely.妈妈：先不要动，等妈妈把车停稳了。
I'll get off first and put up the kickstand.
我先下来，把车支子支上。
Child: Can I get off myself?
宝宝：我可以自己下来吗？
Mom: Of course, but you have to hold on to Mommy and get off slowly.
妈妈：当然可以，但是你要扶着妈妈，慢慢下来。
Now we can take off our helmets.
现在咱们可以把头盔摘下来了。
