Nowadays a growing number of people around the world have become interested in China, and the number of foreigners studying Chinese is also increasing. Recently, The World of Chinese, a new bilingual (双语的) TV talk show, is getting popular among them.
The program invites famous experts and professors from home and abroad to share interesting stories and latest news. Great people from all walks of life are also invited. Since it was first shown in April 2018, the program has been watched in 122 countries.
In the first episode, people get close to Yuan Mei and his SuiYuan Menu. Yuan Mei was a famous poet (诗人) and a great talent in ancient China. He was very interested in nine things and the first thing was eating. It is said that as long as Yuan Mei found one dish delicious, he would ask his cook Wang Xiaoyu to learn how to make that dish. Wang always learned with an open mind, so Yuan Mei was able to collect many different dishes. According to all the dishes he had tasted before, Yuan Mei finally wrote SuiYuan Menu, which can be considered as the ancient edition of A Bite of China.
The World of Chinese provides a great communication platform for those who show deep interest in China. Through this program, they can have a better understanding of China and know more about the Chinese language and culture.
