1.Styling & Style
一位讲者讲到了styling和design之间的区别，他是这么说的：
The difference between styling and design is that styling is primarily concerned with surface treatment and appearance-- the expressive qualities of a product. Design, on the other hand, is primarily concerned with problem-solving--it tends to be holistic in its scope and generally seeks simplification and essentiality in products. You can describe a design with words, but a piece of styling can only be described with accurate drawings.
原本我认为“styling”和“style”是一个意思，但如果styling的意思是“风格”，在这里讲不通啊，因为“风格”也是可以用语言描述出来的，例如欧式风格、田园风格、巴洛克风格。来看styling一词的英文释义：
styling: the way in which something is made, designed, or performed
styling: the design and appearance of an object, especially a car
它强调的是产品设计的方式，尤其是某一款特定产品的设计和外观，译为“款式”更准确。
2. 航空 & 航天
在我的印象里，“航空”和“航天”两个词总是打包出现的，我从来没有想过它们之间的差别，直到有一次翻译了一句话：
We look forward to working with him closely on our space missions and making our vision a reality.
Space mission怎么译？航天任务，还是航空任务，还是航空航天任务？我查了一下两个词的区别——
航空（aviation），一种复杂而有战略意义的人类活动，指飞行器在地球大气层（空气空间）中的飞行（航行）活动。
航天（Spaceflight），又称空间飞行、太空飞行、宇宙航行或航天飞行，是指进入、探索、开发和利用太空（即地球大气层以外的宇宙空间，又称外层空间）以及地球以外天体各种活动的总称。
从英文标注可以清楚地看到两个词之间的差异。航空指地球大气层内的飞行，而航天指地球之外、太空层面的飞行。“美国国家航空航天局”的英文是National Aeronautics and Space Administration，Aeronautics的英文释义是“the science of designing and flying planes”，即航天术。欧洲对应的机构叫做European Space Agency，欧洲航天局。
3. Finance
Finance=金融，初高中一直是这么背的。由于工作的原因，我仔细地查阅了一下finance的英文释义，发现它的含义是非常丰富的，而且每一个释义都有适用背景：
1) the management of money by governments, large organizations etc （政府/大型机构的）财政、金融
2) finances: the money that an organization or person has, and the way that they manage it （公司/个人的）财务
3) money provided by a bank or other institution to help buy or do something （银行/金融机构提供的）资金
我对中文里金融、会计、财务、财政等词之间的差别也不敏感，所以在这里也补充一下中文的具体解释。
财务是指企业为达到既定目标所进行的筹集资金和运用资金的活动。
金融指货币的发行、流通和回笼，贷款的发放和收回，存款的存入和提取，汇兑的往来等经济活动。
财政，就是指国家或政府的收支活动，它是一国政府选择某种形式(实物、力役或货币)，以一部分国民收入为分配对象，为国家实现其职能的需要而实施的分配行为。
会计是以货币为主要计量单位，运用专门的方法，核算和监督一个单位经济活动的一种经济管理工作。
4. Theatre & Cinema
直接上英文解释：
theatre: a building or outdoor area in which plays and other dramatic performances are given
(often the theater) the activity or profession of acting in, producing, directing, or writing plays
cinema: a movie theater
两个词的差别是很细微的，Theatre指戏剧，或戏剧演出的场所，即“剧场”，而cinema专指电影放映的场所，即“影院”。当然，theatre也可以是电影院的意思，具体含义取决于语境。
翻译是语言的艺术，需要译者对语言的细微差别非常敏感。且译且珍惜，共勉！
