This poem, from A Collection of Conservatoire, describing the natural phenomenon that spring goes, autumn comes, everything changes from flourish to decadence and goes without return. It expresses the emotion through metaphor to the level of a truth of life, that is “In prime if you don’t try, When old you can but sigh.”

In the yard, the sunflowers
Enjoy the sun and showers.
Spring is grace of Nature,
The world she does nurture.
Autumn’ll fall I oft fear;
When leaves yellow and sear,
Rivers to East Sea pour,
And will return ne’er more.
In prime if you don’t try,
When old you can but sigh.
