1.表示倍数的几种方法
(1)倍数 as...as...如:
This box is four times as large as that one. 这个盒子是那个的四倍大。
(2)倍数 比较级 than...如:
He is twice heavier than you.他比你重两倍。
(3)倍数 the size/weight/heigh/length of...或 what 引导的名词性从句,如：
This river is three times the length of the one in my hometown.这条河是我家乡的那条河的三倍长。
I will give you five times what I have borrowed. 我会给你我所借的五倍。
注意三种结构的比较,如"我们的房间比他们的大两倍"可以使用下列三种方式来表达:
Our room is twice bigger than theirs.
Our room is three times as big as theirs.
Our room is three times the size of theirs.
小贴士表示"一倍”"一次"时，使用once。表示“两倍”、“两次”时，使用twice.
2.比较级的特殊结构
(1)作否定比较时可用"less 形容词原形 than"如:
John is less clever than Tony. 约翰没有托尼聪明。
This computer is less expensive than mine. 这部电脑没有我的贵。
(2)表示"越来越....."使用”比较级 and 比较级"结构,如:
It's getting hotter and hotter.天气越来越热了。
Our school is becoming more and more beautiful. 我们学校变得越来越漂亮 .
(3) 表示"越.....越....."使用”the 比较级 ...，the 比较级 ..."结构，如：
The busier he is, the happier he feels. 他越忙,越感到高兴。
The harder you work , the more you will get. 你工作越努力，得到的就越多。
(4)"no 比较级 than”结构的特殊含义:
You are no taller than I. 你和我一样矮。
He is no richer than us. 他跟我们一样穷。
(5) no more than 表示"不多于,仅仅",no less than 表示”(强调数量大)不少于,多达”，如:
She is no more than 16 years old. 她只有 16 岁。
The guide contains details of no less than 115 hiking routes.这本旅行指南包括多达115 条徒步旅行路线的详细介绍。
(6) more... than 表示"与其说.....倒不如说......”,如:
He's more brave than wise. 与其说他机智,不如说他勇敢。
