戴铁郎原籍广东惠阳，1930年生于新加坡，1940年回国。

1953年毕业于北京电影学院后进入上海电影制片厂美术片组，1957年进入上海美术电影制片厂。

戴铁郎先生参与和导演的作品包括《黑猫警长》《我的朋友小海豚》《小红脸和小蓝脸》《牧笛》《小蝌蚪找妈妈》《草原英雄小姐妹》《九色鹿》等。

Born in Singapore in 1930, Dai moved to China at the age of 10. After college graduation, he began working at the Shanghai Animation Film Studio where he joined the production of a number of animation masterpieces such as "A Deer of Nine Colors."
