Today let’s continue our buzzword learning.
今天我们继续网络语言的学习。
When you’re trying to describe someone who is very handsome.
当你需要描述一个人长得帅的时候。
A lot of foreigners would say “tā hěn shuài”.
很多外国人会说“他很帅”。
“tā” would be he or her.
他，就是he或者she。
They have different characters but the pronunciations, totally the same.
两者发音完全一样，只不过写法不同。
“hěn” would be very.
很，就是very的意思。
“shuài” would be handsome.
帅，就是 handsome。
“tā hěn shuài” would be: he is very handsome.
他很帅，就是he is very handsome。
We don’t need “is” here, because there is no be verb in Chinese.
我们不需要用“是”，因为中文当中没有be verb。
And we can directly use the adjective phrase as its predicate in a sentence.
我们还可以直接将形容词短语作为一个句子里面的谓语成份。
Let me introduce what we’re gonna be learning today.
好，下面让我来介绍一下今天要学的东西。
Say it with me.

“xiǎo xiān ròu”.
小鲜肉。
Xiǎo means little or small.
小，就是small的意思。
Xiān is fresh.
鲜，是fresh。
Ròu would be meat.
肉，就是meat。
xiǎo xiān ròu, little fresh meat.
小鲜肉。
You might ask.
你可能会问。
Hey, what the fuck is that?
嗨，这尼玛是什么啊？
In fact, xiǎo xiān ròu is a reference to young handsome boy.
其实，小鲜肉的意思，就是形容好看的年轻男孩。
For example, if you’re having a very young and very handsome boyfriend.
比如，你有一个很年轻很帅的男朋友。
You can say: wǒ de nán péng yǒu shì xiǎo xiān ròu.
你可以说：我的男朋友是小鲜肉。
My boyfriend is little fresh meat.
我的男朋友是小鲜肉。
We would not use shuài that often.
我们用帅这个字其实不多。
xiǎo xiān ròu would be a reference to young and handsome boys.
小鲜肉，经常用于形容帅的年轻男性。
The opposite would be “lǎo là ròu”.
相反的，老腊肉。
Lǎo, which means old, or which means something which is not tender, you know.
老，就是年长，或者是不嫩的东西，你知道的。
Lǎo là ròu. là ròu is a kind of meat.
老腊肉，腊肉是一种肉。
Ròu means meat.
肉，meat的意思。
Là is a kind of cooking way,
which is known as the famous Chinese traditional food for Chinese new year.
腊是一种烹饪方式，是一种很有名的中国新年传统食物。
Lǎo là ròu, which means a kind of smoked meat.
老腊肉，那么就是熏过的肉。
Which is not very tender and is a reference to old man.
也就是不太嫩，用来形容年长的男性。
So lǎo là ròu doesn’t have to be handsome.
老腊肉，不需要太帅、
But xiǎo xiān ròu has to be young and handsome.
但是小鲜肉，一定要年轻，一定要帅。
When it comes to girls, we would say “xiǎo luó lì”.
形容女孩子，我们用小萝莉。
luó lì comes from Japanese cartoon image, I think.
萝莉，我猜应该是来自日本卡通形象。
Which is Lolita.
就是洛丽塔。
Lolita is very kawaii, is very cute.
洛丽塔很卡哇伊，也很可爱。
And of course, xiǎo means she needs to be very young.
当然，小就是young的意思。
xiǎo luó lì would be young cute girls.
小萝莉，年轻可爱的女生。
You can say: wǒ de nǚ péng yǒu shì xiǎo luó lì.
你可以说：我的女朋友是小萝莉。
Which means my girlfriend is young and beautiful.
就是说我的女朋友非常年轻非常漂亮。
Or young and cute.
或者是，年轻，可爱。
xiǎo xiān ròu for young and handsome guys.
小鲜肉，年轻帅气的男孩。
xiǎo luó lì, that is for cute young girls.
小萝莉，年轻可爱的女孩。
