在公司财报的翻译上，会常常出现“市场份额”这样的词语，对应的英语“market share”。
但“**公司2018年的美国市场份额达30%”，用英文怎么表达。“The company had 30% of the American market shares in 2018”或者“The company had 30% American market shares in 2018”，这两个表达看似正确，其实不然。
“Share”的意思是指“在所有参与者中分得的一份”，所以“你的那份蛋糕”就应该是“your share of the cake”而不是“your cake share”。
因此正确地道的表达是：“The company held a 30% share of the American market”，或“The company held 30% of the American market”。
同理，“share”一词在当“股份”的意思时，也是这个用法。
比如，The company holds a 51% share and the local government holds a 49% share of the JV。
“stake”可以替换“share”。比如Both companies hold a 50% stake in the newly established JV。
