2. on a boat 指比较大的船，常见的有 vessel，container ship 或 cruise ship，例如：

娜塔莉在一艘游轮上看到鲸鱼。
在正式用语中，当强调登上某个大的交通工具时，通常用 aboard 来表示，如飞机、火车、大船、游艇或舰等，所以我们最经常听到的是 welcome (sb) aboard （欢迎乘坐），例如：
When everyone was aboard the ship, we departed.
当大家都上船时，我们就出发了。
He was a radio technician aboard the USS Missouri.
他是密苏里号上的无线电技术员。
We finally went aboard the plane three hours later.
三小时后我们终于上了飞机。
注意：在英语中， ship 是比 boat 大的船，所以在正式使用过程中更多的是用 on a ship，此时的 ship 被认为是大的作业工具，因此平时我们基本上看不到 on a boat，更多的是 on a vessel/container ship/cruise ship 等等。
