同位语补充说明或进一步解释句中的一个词语，与这一词语充当同一个句子成分，它通常由下列词语和结构来表示：
（1）名词和名词短语
My friend Peter was late for school. 我的朋友彼得上学迟到了。
（2）代词和代词短语
They are none of them workers. 他们谁也不是工人。
（3）数词和数词短语
They are in the same boat, the three of them. 他们三个人同舟共济。
（4）不定式和不定式短语
He has a desire --- to marry the most beautiful girl in the factory. 他有一个愿望，想娶厂里最漂亮的女孩为妻。
（5）动名词短语
He has only one hobby, collecting stamps. 他只有一个业余爱好---集邮。
（6）复合结构
The Great Hall of the People has twenty-odd reception rooms, each as big as a normal ballroom. 人民大会堂有二十几个接待厅，每一个都有正规的舞厅那么大。
