Guangxu Silver Coin (Ding Wei) Shuanglong Yiliang is one of the standard silver coins of the Qing Dynasty designed and officially cast by the branch of the Qing government. It was cast in Tianjin Mint General Factory, the branch of Guangxu 33rd year of Qing Dynasty (1907).
It is a big category of silver coin collection, which has always attracted the attention of many collectors. Different versions of silver coins have unique charm, which is worthy of collectors' deep appreciation. Because these coins are non-renewable, and they are rare in the world, the collection value is incalculable.
Guangxu silver coins, combined with foreign advanced coinage technology, are among all the dragon-shaped silver coins in China with the best craftsmanship and the most beautiful carvers. There is no unevenness on the surface of silver coins, which are flat and smooth, and the ornamentation engraved in silver coins is clear and coherent. Especially, the characters engraved on silver coins are clear and very beautiful. Even laymen who have no research on silver coins can't put it down, and they are very ornamental. It is the most exquisite representative of China's silver-based monetary system. In order to reflect the authority of the Manchu imperial power system in the monetary field, its designers and manufacturers made exquisite designs regardless of the cost.
The left and right sides of the outer circle are engraved with the word "Ding Wei" and a pair of double dragon play beads (Shouzi) patterns. On the back of the silver coin, the word "one or two" is engraved in the center, and the patterns of double dragons playing with beads are engraved on both sides. Three clouds are engraved on the backs and bellies of two dragons, and the patterns of waves are engraved on the lower ends. It's completely different from the dragon figure on the front and back.
Guangxu (Dingwei) Shuanglong Yiliang silver coin was put on the market that year, but it didn't last long in circulation. Because of the mistake in the coinage mold of Guangxu silver coin Dingwei Yiliang in the casting process, the Qing government ordered the recovery of the wrong coin, which made the mint return to the furnace for re-casting. Therefore, Guangxu silver coin Dingwei Yiliang didn't really flow into the market, and its actual casting amount was actually not much. It is rare that it can be well circulated and preserved till now.
Silver coins, representing the monetary culture of modern China, reflect the ups and downs and vicissitudes of China's modern history, economy and finance. They have high artistic appreciation value and cultural relics value, as well as certain value preservation and appreciation functions.
