1. toss and turn
（尤指因无法入睡而）翻来覆去，辗转反侧
例句：
I was tossing and turning all night.
我整晚辗转反侧，无法入睡。
2. cut and thrust
唇枪舌剑，激烈争论
例句：
She enjoys the cut and thrust of party politics.
她喜欢党派政治中的唇枪舌剑。
3. born and bred
土生土长的
例句：
He's a Parisian born and bred.
他是土生土长的巴黎人。
4. wait and see
等等看；等着瞧
例句：
No decision will be made until next year, so you'll just have to wait and see.
得等到明年才会有决定，所以你只好等等看了。
5. wear and tear
（一定时期内的）磨损，损耗
例句：
Seat covers on trains take a lot of wear and tear.
火车上的座套磨损比较严重。
6. meet-and-greet
见面会（知名人物与群众对话的活动）
例句：
The President took a short meet-and-greet walk to the restaurant.
总统到酒店出席了一个简短见面会。
7. bread and butter
谋生的职业；谋生之道
例句：
Gardening is my bread and butter at the moment.
眼下园艺工作是我的谋生之道。
8. bed and breakfast
（私人住宅或小旅馆提供的）住宿和早餐
例句：
We're staying at a farm that does bed and breakfast.
我们住在一家提供住宿和早餐的农庄里。
9. surf and turf
海鲜牛排套餐
例句：
We spent three days together, eating surf and turf.
我们在一起待了三天，吃海鲜牛排大餐。
10. here and there
到处，在各处
例句：
There were a few books here and there, but apart from that the room was quite bare.
房间里散放着几本书，但除此之外几乎没有什么东西。
11. huff and puff
（通常在运动后）喘粗气
例句：
We were huffing and puffing by the time we'd climbed to the top of the hill.
我们爬上山顶后直喘粗气。
这个短语还有“大声抱怨，反对”的意思
例句：
They huffed and puffed about the price but eventually they paid up.

12. nip and tuck
（比赛中）势均力敌，不相上下
例句：
It was nip and tuck as to who would win the playoffs, but Denver's determination helped them to beat a tough Washington team.
