There are many words and phrases that our students feel very confused about. I will choose some of them to explain their differences.
Some students asked, “what's the difference between I believe you and I believe in you?”This is a good question.
- “I believe you”means I think what you are telling me is the truth. I may not have any proof, but I trust you.
- "I believe in you "means that you accept that something exists.
- "I believe in you"also means I have confidence in your abilities.I will support you.I will support your ambitions.I will support your dream.
In summary,
- if you believe someone, you think what they say is true.
- If you believe in something or someone,
- you have confidence in them, you support them ,or you accept that they are real and they exist.
