今天的片段来自《摩登家庭》(Modern Family)。
这部热门美剧播了11年，Haley这个角色，从第一季里娇气的青少年成长到了最终季里双胞胎宝宝的妈妈。
曾经叛逆又吊儿郎当的Haley在当妈妈之后，完全一改常态。
在英语里，有几个关于父母的说法近几年很流行，其中之一就是helicopter parents，“直升机爸妈”。
这个形容其实本身和直升机没什么关系，说的是这种父母像直升机一样，一直盘旋在自家孩子头顶上，什么都要管。
和这有关的有一个字，smother，意思是“使窒息、扼杀”。这个字由于和母亲mother只差一个字母，所以也往往被叛逆的小孩用来说自己妈妈，觉得自己妈妈太过严厉管得太多，那么就是my mother is smothering me.
