advise语气较recommend强烈，通常指权威人士、经验丰富者的忠告、建议。
Police are advising fans without tickets to stay away.
警察正在告诫没有票的球迷不要前来。（不用recommend）
You are strongly advised to take out medical insurance when travelling abroad. 强烈建议出国旅游要购买医疗保险。
I advise you 暗含提出忠告者比对方更了解情况，如果对方处于同等或更高的地位就可能引起反感。
I recommend 主要含试图帮助之意，不大可能引起反感。

advocate 指公开支持、提倡，鼓吹（常指许多人不赞同的事物）。

affect 通常由物作主语，多产生消极作用。
The food is for the areas affected by the flood. 食物是为受洪水影响的地区准备的。
influence 通常指潜移默化地起作用。

impact vt. 对…产生重要或明显的影响。
Her father's death impacted greatly on her childhood years. 父亲去世对她的童年造成巨大影响。

objective （尤指商业或政治方面的）目的，目标

living “活着的”用于修饰有生命的人或物，通常作定语。
