今天介绍“将信将疑”的英文说法——take sth with a grain of salt。先看一下字典的解释：
Collins：to not rely on something, such as a piece of information, because it may not be accurate or true
Cambridge：to not completely believe something that you are told, because you think it is unlikely to be true:
很明显“take sth. with a grain of salt”的意思就是“不全信；对……采取保留态度”。但为什么“和一撮盐一起吃下去”是“半信半疑”的意思呢？这要回溯到罗马帝国时期，相传当时曾经发明过一种解毒剂，也许是解毒剂难以下咽，需要合着一小撮盐才能服下。进而引申出“对于不靠谱的事物，需要和着一小撮盐才能勉强接受”的含义。

1. This is why you should take the advice of one person with a grain of salt. 这就是为什么你要带着怀疑的态度去接受一个人的意见的原因。
