Bali, Indonesia has been in the global spotlight thanks to the G20 Summit. Among them, the tropical tourism island has gained the attention of an unlikely remote observer: Xinzheng, a small city in the central Chinese province of Henan.

On November 13th, before the 17th G20 Leaders' Summit in Indonesia, the country's leading news outlet Kompas published an article introducing Xinzheng's historical and cultural heritage and its business advantages, giving a clear message that this rising city—both ancient and young—is seeking international partners.

Xinzheng is administered by Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan Province. For those unfamiliar with the city, it's easy to infer from the literal meaning of the city's name (the character "Xin" means "new" in Chinese) that it is just a young city or a new Zhengzhou.

In fact, Xinzheng is a time-honored capital with a history of over 2,000 years. In 770 B.C., the state of Zheng moved from Shaanxi in northwest China to this area during the Spring and Autumn Period, with the region later called Xinzheng. After the First Emperor Qin Shi Huang unified the six kingdoms, Xinzheng County was established here and the name has continued to this day.

By holding an ancestral worship ceremony in the hometown of the Yellow Emperor, many overseas Chinese, including those from Indonesia, are coming to Xinzheng to trace their roots and worship their ancestors. A sense of national pride and belonging is shared between people in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas as they share the same roots, ancestors and origins.

The modernization of the time-honored city is equally impressive. Xinzheng is the most economically developed city in Henan, and its business environment ranks among the best. Its electronic information industry and food sector are well-developed, and Henan's first Mini LED direct display product was developed in the city. Famous Chinese brands such as Bright Dairy and Snow Beer have set up factories in the city, and the home-grown jujube brand Haoxiangni is well-known throughout the country.
古老新郑的现代化同样令人印象深刻。新郑是河南省县域经济最发达的城市，营商环境评价名列前茅。新郑的电子信息产业和食品工业发达，诞生了河南省第一片Mini LED直显产品，光明乳业、雪花啤酒等中国著名品牌在这里设立工厂，本地成长的“好想你”红枣品牌全国知名。

"Xinzheng has a nourishing business environment," said Chu Wei, general manager of Zhengzhou Huasi Photoelectric Technology Co., Ltd.. "The local enterprise service specialist visits firms every once in a while to coordinate and address various issues in project development and production. When investing and developing in this city, I don't feel helpless, but feel like part of a big family." The company moved here from China's high-tech hub in Shenzhen and went into full production this year, filling a gap in the Mini LED industry in Henan.

In Xinzheng's electronic information industrial park, rows of modern factories stand side by side, and machines roar in the production workshops. In addition to Huasi, Rigger Micro Technologies and Zunshen Optoelectronics were also drawn to Xinzheng by its good business environment.

Xinzheng's ambition is not limited to the province. It is intended to become a national first-class modern medium-sized city with both natural ecological beauty and historical and humanistic charm.

The confidence comes from Xinzheng's three edges. Its Yellow Emperor culture remains attractive to Chinese people all over the world, the modern airport has narrowed the distance to the rest of the world, and its supportive business environment makes it an ideal place for investment.

Renrenli Food Co., Ltd. from China's coastal Fujian Province, has been in Xinzheng for 11 years. The city's convenient transport network has enabled its Horsh-brand bread to be sold across the country and even exported to Southeast Asia.
从中国沿海省份福建到新郑投资的人人利食品有限公司已在此深耕11年，有赖于新郑的交通优势，他们生产的“豪士”系列面包销售全国并出口东南亚。
Xie Pengwei, the company's executive vice president, hopes that more of its products will go global from Xinzheng, where the new factory's high-end baking projects are rapidly being built.

Both the officials and investors in Xinzheng have their eyes on the G20 summit in Bali in a bid to follow the impulses of global economy and look for opportunities.

The reason is obvious after the introduction of Xinzheng. The emerging city's leading industries such as electronic information, health food, high-end trade and logistics, as well as emerging sectors like biomedicine, intelligent equipment manufacturing, high-end cultural tourism, all depend on a more open world.
