1． 在一日三餐前不用The
例：There are four seasons in a year:spring,summer,autumn and winter.
3． 在国名及地名简称前不用The
例：China ，America，England，Tian An Men Square
4． 在星期，月份前不用The
例：in 1997,in January , on Sunday
5． 复数可数名词表示一般意义时前不用The
例：Horses are animals.
6． 在人名及称呼语前不用The
例：Tom , Alice
7． 在表示头衔或职务的名词前不用The
例：Good morning，sir！
8． 在用This,that,my,your,some,any,no every,each,whose,which等修饰的名词前不用The
例：This pen is mine.
9． 在表示棋类，球类运动的名词前不用The
例：We play football ( basketball, pingpong , volleyball ) after class.
c 在某些固定搭配的短语中不用The
例：at night in hospital住院 in bed 卧床
特别注意：以下这些专有名词前必须加“the”
1. 天地日月：the sun， the moon ，the stars， the earth
2. 星辰山脉、江河湖海、海湾海峡： the Qolmolangma， the Changjiang River ， the Huanghe River ， the West Lake ，the Black Sea
3. 各种乐器：play the piano ，play the violin
4. 国家全称：The People's Republic of China（中华人民共和国）
The United States of America（美利坚合众国）
5. 某些组织机构： the United Nations（联合国）
6. 某些建筑：the Workers' Gymnasium （工人体育馆）
7. 报纸：The Times（泰晤士报）
