Facility metrics facility decisions affect a company's financial performance and supply chain responsiveness to customers. In terms of financial performance, facility decisions affect the cost of product sales and fixed assets such as property, plant, equipment (if the facility is owned), as well as selling expenses, general expenses, and administrative expenses (if the facility is leased). Managers should review the following facility metrics that affect supply chain performance.

●产能是设施最大的生产数量。

● Capacity is the maximum production quantity of the facility.

●利用率是设施正在使用的产能的比例。利用率影响生产的单位成本和各种延迟。利用率提高时,单位成本降低(固定资产周转率提高),延迟增多。

● Utilization is the proportion of the capacity that the facility is using. Utilization affects the unit cost of production and various delays. As utilization increases, unit costs decrease (fixed asset turnover increases) and latency increases.

●加工/调整/停工/空闲时间是设施生产加工的时间、设施调整准备的时间、设施因损坏而无法运行的时间,以及设施因无产品生产而闲置的时间。理想情况下,利用率应该由需求而不是调整准备时间或停工时间来限制。

●Processing/adjustment/downtime/idle time is the time for the production and processing of the facility, the time for the preparation of the facility adjustment, the time that the facility cannot operate due to damage, and the time when the facility is idle due to no product production. Ideally, utilization should be limited by demand rather than adjustment lead time or downtime.

●The theoretical production process time/cycle is the time required to produce a unit of product when there is no delay at any stage of production.

●The actual average process time/cycle is the actual average time to produce all products in a specific period such as a week or month. Actual average process times/cycles include theoretical time and all delays. This metric should be applied when setting lead times for orders.

●流程时间效率是理论生产流程时间与实际平均流程时间的比率。流程时间效率低说明大部分时间都消耗在等待中了。

●Process time efficiency is the ratio of theoretical production process time to actual average process time. Inefficient process time means that most of the time is spent waiting.

●产品品种是每一生产设施生产的产品品种数或该设施能够生产的产品族的数量。产品品种越多,生产成本和流程时间就越可能增加。

●Product variety is the number of product varieties produced by each production facility or the number of product families that the facility can produce. The greater the product variety, the more likely production costs and process times will increase.

The Twenty-Eight Principle (the top 20% contributes 80% of production) suggests that benefits may come from processing the first 20% and the remaining 80% of goods separately using specialized processes.

● Average production batch is the average output of each batch of products. The larger the batch size, the lower the production cost and the higher the inventory in the supply chain.

●The production service level is the proportion of production orders completed on time and in full.
